Dr. Remi Samuel

Dr. Samuel has a track-record career in management top of which was his
appointment with A.G. Leventis Nigeria Plc first as General Manager of Victoria
Beach Hotel and later as the Group Human Resource Manager. In this position
as the Group Human Resource Manager, he championed the Group reengineering
project and installation of a performance-based management
system developing and installing the tools. As the General Manager of the
hotel, he revived the moribund Mainland Hotel business and achieved a
sustained profitability for over a decade before his transfer to the Group Head
Office.
In his previous career, he worked as Controller, Human Resources with
International Tobacco Company Plc. [formerly Phillip Morris Nigeria] for 11
years during which he acquired global exposure to best practices in human
resource management and attended several local and overseas development
training in many aspects of people management competencies. Prior to this
position, he was with the Arewa Hotels (Development) Ltd Group where he rose
to Director of Personnel and Administration of Tourist Company of Nigeria Ltd
owners of Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos then on a management transfer services
with his Arewa Hotels Group. He also held position of Senior Executive,
Personnel/Admin at the Arewa Group Head Office in Kaduna and Kwara Hotel,
Ilorin.
Dr. Samuel holds Doctorate Degree in Management Science [University of
Ilorin, Nigeria); Masters in Labor and Industrial Relations [University of Ibadan,
Nigeria] graduating best student, and Bachelor of Science degree in Political
Science [University of Sokoto] graduating best student with Merit Award.
He is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria
(FCIPM), Fellow of Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Wales and
England, Fellow Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, UK, Member
Society for Human Resource Management, and Member of Nigerian Institute
for Training and Development and other international professional bodies. Dr.
Samuel was a Winner of Development in Nigeria Merit Award (DINMA) for
Excellence in Corporate Management.
His professional work experiences span over 30 years of which he spent over 20
years handling core human resource management. Dr. Samuel has consulted
in HR for companies in the oil and gas, banking, services, health and
manufacturing sectors and the public sector reform in Nigeria. He is also a
Fellow of the Faculty of Management Sciences of University of Lagos where he
has lectured human resource management for last 15 years on adjunct basis.
